Manitowoc has introduced upFlex, a load management system at Conexpo this week, providing an upgrade path for owners of Grove Rough Terrain and truck cranes built between 2002 and 2023.
The upFLEX features a ‘plug-and-play’ design of sophisticated Rated Capacity Limiter with a seven inch console monitoring lift activity to ensure a crane is working within its rated capacity. The system connects directly to the crane’s Can-Bus via on-board ethernet, ensuring consistent operation across the full range of compatible Grove cranes. It replaces the iFlex5 (LI5G), iFlex5 (CGMK), and iFlex2 (LSQG) models, offering a direct retrofit for older cranes.

Mark Harlacher, director of sales and marketing for customer support said: “Many crane owners seek to maximise the life of their cranes, and now they have the option to upgrade to the latest system in a fast and straightforward way.”
Manitowoc also unveiled the Apex standalone indicator, a wireless add-on for Grove cranes that provides a connection to anti two block and wind speed sensors, with sensor status displayed graphically in the cab.
