In a move that has surprised many, Vertical Aerospace Chairman Domhnal Slattery has announced on social media that that he is stepping down from the role with immediate effect and that Benjamin Story a current Non-Executive member of the Vertical board has been named as the company’s interim Chairman while a permanent successor is sought.
This marks the end of Slattery’s second term as Chairman at the eVTOl developer, he was first appointed in January 2022 stepping down a year later continuing to act as an advisor to the company’s board returning to the Chairmanship in January of last year.
In has posting Slatterly said “With Vertical in this position of strength, it feels like the right moment for me to step back as Chair. The next chapter belongs to the team taking Valo through certification and I’m delighted that Benjamin Story will serve as Interim Chair. His experience at Rolls-Royce, Transport for London and Citigroup brings exactly the right combination of strategic, financial and transport sector experience. I have no doubt the company will thrive under his guidance while a permanent Chair is appointed”.
