The first Embraer KC-390 Millennium destined for the Czech Air Force has completed its maiden flight in Brazil, according to a video released by the Czech government and produced by the Brazilian manufacturer.
Although the footage did not specify the date of the test, flight tracking records indicate the aircraft, carrying the temporary registration PT-CMN, flew on May 11 from Embraer’s facility in Gavião Peixoto.
The flight followed a standard production test profile. Video images showed the KC-390 parked alongside another Millennium aircraft whose customer could not be identified before taxiing to runway 20L.
The jet briefly paused before departure while a drone captured footage of the takeoff sequence.
A crew of five was aboard the aircraft during the sortie.
After returning to Gavião Peixoto, the KC-390 was greeted with the traditional water salute from airport firefighting vehicles. The flight crew later disembarked carrying a Czech Republic flag.
Prague signed a contract for two KC-390 aircraft in late 2024, roughly a year after selecting the type for its tactical and strategic airlift requirements.
Prague plans to operate the aircraft in missions including troop and cargo transport, medical evacuation, humanitarian support, aerial refueling and firefighting. The two KC-390s will be equipped to use the MAFFS II airborne firefighting system.

The country is also part of the KC-390 industrial chain through Czech aerospace company Aero Vodochody, which manufactures several structural components for the aircraft including parts of the wing and rear fuselage.
