Bombardier has collaborated with Lebanon fashion designer, Elie Saab, to create a cabin design for the Global 8000 business jet that adds a sense of haute couture to a fully certifiable aircraft interior. This is not just a fanciful project: the Elie Saab-designed interior is now available as an option to Global 8000 customers.
“When we began discussions with Elie Saab, the Global 8000 was already well on the path to becoming a certified, operational aircraft. This allowed us to go beyond concepts and rethink the cabin as a true living space, while fully respecting the performance and operational realities of the aircraft,” said Éric Martel, president and CEO of Bombardier.
While best known for his dress designs, which have been worn with many celebrities, such as Jennifer Lopez, Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman and Taylor Swift, Elie Saab has branched out into other areas, such as residential work with property developers.
For the Global 8000 he created a simple and elegant space, described by Bombardier as ‘a serene and spacious sanctuary characterised by fluid architectural lines, expansive sightlines and a warm, harmonious palette’. At the heart of the design is a large lounge area, with key themes being well-being, connection and comfort.
“We approached this collaboration with an haute couture mindset, elevating every material and detail into a carefully curated expression of luxury, precision and design excellence,” said Elie Saab Jr, CEO of Elie Saab.
“This project also reflects our desire to accompany our clients in their daily lives wherever they are, extending the Elie Saab universe into every moment of their journey. It is truly a new approach to private aviation, where travel becomes a seamless continuation of refined living.”
