Challenger 3500 hits 200 deliveries, still the super-mid to beat

Bombardier delivered its 200th Challenger 3500 today to Ferrari vice-chairman Piero Ferrari. But the milestone goes far beyond the iconic name and likely appearances at Formula One events. What stands out is the pace of deliveries, which according to Bombardier, leads the medium and heavy categories since its first full year on the market starting in 2023. And the demand is showing no signs of waning as Bombardier moves beyond its launch customer phase with recent firm fleet commitments from BOND, NetJets and VistaJet.The 3500 is the newest cabin in the Challenger fleet that runs back through the 300 and 350. It set the standard for the super-midsized segment for both corporate flight departments and fractional fleets. The additional 200 deliveries confirm their class leading position against all rivals. But that doesn’t mean that the competition will go down without a fight: both Embraer’s Praetor 600 and Textron’s Citation Longitude have made strides to put a dent in that lead and continue to eat into market share. But Bombardier’s delivery pace (100th delivered in October 2024 and 100 more 21 months later) indicates a production line running at full speed with no signs of slowing down. With fresh orders filling the books, the super-mid segment appears to be gaining market at the expense of the existing midsize fleet, with the steepest annual decline in asking values of any used jet segment in June 2026, down 6.54%, according to industry sources.The super-midsize class market is clearly healthy along with the most active resales in its class as well.
