Bangladesh’s US-Bangla Airlines will acquire 21 new Boeing aircraft as part of a major fleet expansion unveiled at a special ceremony in Dhaka.
At the event on July 29, 2026, US-Bangla Airlines described the announcement as a “landmark” and a “massive leap forward for Bangladesh’s aviation sector”.
According to local media, the acquisition is part of a lease agreement for 15 Boeing 737-8 aircraft and six 737-800s and is thought to be worth $1.5 billion.
The aircraft have been acquired from as many as five different lessors, although the details of the exact companies have not yet been confirmed.
The ‘Beyond with Boeing’ event was held at the Sheraton Hotel in Banani, attended by State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism, Rashiduzzaman Millat, and the US Ambassador to Bangladesh, Brent T. Christensen.
“Pleased to see US-Bangla Airlines chose Boeing aircraft to grow their fleet and Bangladesh’s air connections to the world,” Ambassador Christensen said.
Paul Righi, Boeing’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Eurasia, India, and South Asia, was also among the invited guests alongside diplomats, aviation leaders, and media representatives.
“It reflects our long-term vision to transform US-Bangla from an airline into a fully integrated global aviation group,” Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun, Managing Director of US-Bangla Airlines said.
According to ch-aviation data, US-Bangla Airlines currently operates three Airbus A330-300s, nine ATR-72-600s and found 737-800s. The airline also leases 19 aircraft, including 10 ATR-72-600s and five 737-800s.
