FedEx unveiled at special retro livery Boeing 777 this week to coincide with the renaming of Memphis International Airport in honor of FedEx founder Frederick W. Smith. The 777 freighter, registration N884FD, was one of the first aircraft to land at the airport following the renaming.
Inspired by the original livery
The 777 wears a special livery that is closely inspired by the Federal Express livery worn by the original Dassault Falcon aircraft, which first started carrying overnight packages in 1973. Falcon 20D, “Wendy,” which sits in the National Air and Space Museum Udvar-Hazy Center, is named after Fred Smith’s daughter. The retro livery 777 is named “Rosie,” after Smith’s granddaughter.

Track N884FD
FedEx operates a fleet of 59 777 freighters and an overall fleet of more than 700 aircraft, including ATR turboprops, Airbus A300s, Boeing 767s, and MD-11s.
Since painting, N884FD has been operating domestic routes for FedEx, including Memphis-New York, Memphis-Seattle, and Seattle-Los Angeles.
