PHI Air Medical has announced a partnership with the Arizona Fire & Medical Authority (AFMA), aimed at an expansion of air medical transport in Arizona’s West Valley. Based at the Abrazo Medical Group in Buckeye the operation will blend PHI Air Medical aviation and clinical flight expertise with AFMA public safety paramedicine capabilities, improving rapid access to advanced medical care across the region.
Responsibilities will be shared, with PHI Air Medical providing pilots, mechanics, and flight nurses, and while AFMA supplying paramedics. The base will support both emergency scene responses and interfacility patient transports throughout the region.
“This new partnership with AFMA reflects our shared commitment to delivering high-quality, life-saving care to the communities we serve,” said Mark Leighton, Co-President PHI Health and President of PHI Cares. “By integrating our teams and resources, we are strengthening emergency response capabilities across the West Valley.”
The operation which will use a AS350 B3 capable of night and IMC operations is expected to start later this month.
