Italian air navigation services provider, ENAV, announced on 12 September that ENAV Group companies D-Flight and Aiviewgroup carried out nearly 5,000 fire monitoring drone flights in the Calabria region this summer.
The operation resulted in 897 flight hours and more than 104,000 kilometres of fire surveillance patrols between June 28 and August 28, reaching 361 Calabrian municipalities at least once, with a peak of 114 missions on August 5. In August alone, 73 fires were detected.
D-Flight and Aiviewgroup integrate drones, specialised pilots and digital systems to transform observations collected on the ground into information that is automatically transmitted and made visible in the Calabria Region’s Control Room.
