Hubbard is now interim chief operating officer, with day-to-day oversight responsibility.
Longtime National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) executive Dan Hubbard has become the group’s interim leader while chief executive Ed Bolen steps aside for cancer treatment.
The association disclosed the leadership shift on 18 September, one month before the start of its annual NBAA Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA-BACE) in Las Vegas.
NBAA has named Hubbard, who has since 2008 been senior vice-president of communications, as its interim chief operating officer.
It has also “designated Hubbard as the association’s day-to-day lead while president and CEO Ed Bolen takes a leave of absence for cancer treatment”, NBAA says.
The group does not elaborate on Bolen’s condition or treatment.
“We are wishing Ed a full recovery as he takes the time he needs to focus on his health,” says the group’s board chair John Witzig.
NBAA says Hubbard, a 22-year veteran of the association, has been instrumental in “shaping” its brand. He has also been “deeply involved in NBAA’s external affairs, partnerships and advocacy initiatives in the US and globally”.
“NBAA is well-positioned to continue operating seamlessly and serving members strategically and effectively, and I am honoured to step in and lead our dedicated team,” Hubbard says.
NBAA also on 18 September said that Heidi Williams, who previously headed its regulatory policy work, is now senior vice-president of operations. That role had previously been held by Douglas Carr, who retired in July.
