Walmart customers across the Charlotte metro can now order drone delivery from Wing. The launch is part of an expansion to more than 270 stores over the next year.
Wing and Walmart launched drone delivery in the Charlotte area on October 21, 2026. Walmart customers in the region can now order items for drone delivery powered by Wing, marking the official start of the service in the metro.
Charlotte joins Atlanta, Dallas–Fort Worth, Houston and Orlando on Wing’s list of metros currently served with Walmart. In addition, Wing lists Cincinnati, Denver, Los Angeles, Memphis, Miami, New Orleans, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, San Diego, the San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle, St. Louis and Tampa as coming soon. Earlier this month, the companies named Denver and Seattle for their 2027 expansion.

How Charlotte drone delivery works
Customers order through the Wing Drone Delivery app, which offers a curated catalog of thousands of drone-eligible Walmart items, from groceries to games. During checkout, the app prompts users to select a precise delivery location, such as a driveway or backyard. Customers can then track the order in real time, and Wing says its delivery countdowns are accurate to within a couple of seconds. According to Wing, orders can arrive in as little as 30 minutes.
On arrival, the drone lowers the package to the ground, and customers do not need to unclip it. Instead, they collect their items after the drone has flown away.
The companies are pitching Charlotte drone delivery to families, professionals, sports fans and seniors across the metro. They point to game-day supplies, routine essentials and weeknight dinners as typical orders. Because the drones fly over the road network, deliveries bypass traffic and crowded parking lots.
National expansion plans
Over the next year, Wing and Walmart plan to expand drone delivery to more than 270 stores. The companies aim to build a coast-to-coast network in 2027, ultimately reaching more than 10% of the U.S. population. Wing describes the partnership as the nation’s largest drone delivery network.
Residents can check eligibility by entering their address on Wing’s website and can sign up for notifications when service reaches their home.
