Aeropar, a provider of aviation transport services in Paraguay and Brazil, has procured two Leonardo AW109 Trekker aircraft for utility operations. The aircraft are expected to enter into service in 2028 and will mark the first Leonardo helicopters in Paraguay’s rotorcraft market. Aeropar operates from International Airport Ciudad del Este and Silvio Pettirossi International Airport Asunción with a fleet of 15 fixed-wing and rotary wing aircraft.
Leonardo maintains a strong presence in the Latin American helicopter market, with over 400 commercial and military aircraft operating across the region. According to the Rotortrade Global Helicopter Market report, Brazil’s national fleets are quickly developing, with 30% of new single turbine helicopters going to the country.
Additionally, in Rotortrade’s Latin America Helicopter Market Report 2024-2025, a market expansion of 20% was forecast, with countries such as Colombia, Guatemala, Panama, and Costa Rica pinpointed as growth markets. The report shows that LATAM’s fleet is dominated by Robinson (30.4%), followed by Bell (26.9%), and Airbus (25.6%).
