Lufthansa Cargo has integrated various “add-on” services into the booking process to make it easier to select the optional products.
The airline will initially offer three add-on services to customers making a booking online: Sustainable choice; personal supervision and smartULD.
The German carrier explained that when making a booking, customers first select a product and define the required speed before adding suitable add-on Services to their booking.
“At the end of the booking flow, all available add-on services for the selected product, speed and route are displayed, including transparent pricing and can be added with just a few clicks,” the cargo division explained.
Lufthansa Cargo said that it was in the process of adding toDoor (delivery to the consignee’s warehouse) and insurance as extra add-ons in the digital booking process.
And more will be developed and added in the future.
“The modular offering allows customers to expand their bookings with targeted additional services and tailor transport solutions even more flexibly to their individual requirements,” Lufthansa said in a press release.
“Integrating these services into the digital booking process also marks another step in the continuous development of Lufthansa Cargo’s digital customer journey.”
The carrier has been investing in its digital cargo services over recent months.
In its annual report, Lufthansa highlighted investments in new online booking system that accelerates processes, an improved tracking solution to increase transparency, and AI‑powered tools – as automated email bookings and VR training – to boost efficiency and service quality.
