Vietjet has taken a significant leap forward in its long-term expansion strategy, announcing a series of groundbreaking initiatives at the Singapore Airshow 2026. The airline’s latest milestones include its involvement in the newly established Asia-Pacific Aviation Financial Hub (AAFH), alongside pivotal aircraft engine and financing agreements totaling over US$6.1 billion. These efforts underscore Vietjet’s commitment to strengthening its presence in one of the world’s most dynamic aviation regions, including key markets like Vietnam, India, and the broader Asia-Pacific.
Asia-Pacific Aviation Financial Hub Launched
At the Singapore Airshow, the Vietnam International Financial Centre (VIFC-HCM) officially launched the Asia-Pacific Aviation Financial Hub (AAFH). Designed to advance aviation finance, leasing, and infrastructure investments throughout the region, the hub aims to support the development of aviation across Asia-Pacific. Vietjet plays a crucial role as a key partner, contributing to the hub’s early-stage aviation transactions and securing essential financing agreements.
The AAFH is projected to facilitate aviation transactions worth US$50 billion by 2035. Notable agreements announced during the Airshow include Vietjet’s collaboration with industry giants like Pratt & Whitney for engine and maintenance services and Pacific Investment Management Company (PIMCO), a major U.S.-based asset manager involved in aircraft financing. These partnerships are expected to foster a robust aviation finance ecosystem, providing critical resources for the region’s aviation sector.
The AAFH will also introduce specialized policy incentives, internationally recognized legal frameworks, and multi-currency capital mechanisms to support aviation growth. As a driving force in regional aviation finance, Vietjet’s involvement positions the airline as a key player in shaping the future of the Asia-Pacific aviation industry.
Mr. Truong Minh Huy Vu, Chairman of VIFC-HCM, said: “The launch of the Asia-Pacific Aviation Financial Hub marks an important step in realising our vision of building VIFC into a modern, open, and trusted international financial platform. We attract investors not only through incentives, but through institutional quality, innovation capacity, and our ability to directly connect capital flows with the real economy.”
Paul Meijers, Executive Vice President of Airbus, said: “Airbus highly values the role of the Asia–Pacific Aviation Financial Hub in establishing an effective platform that connects the demand for next-generation fleet development with the global financial ecosystem. Participating as an Honorary Strategic Member reflects Airbus’ long-term commitment to advancing innovative financing solutions and supporting the sustainable growth of the aviation industry.”

Vietjet Chairwoman Dr Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao said: “The Asia-Pacific Aviation Financial Hub marks a strategic milestone in reshaping how global capital supports the advancement of aviation and the broader economic landscape of Vietnam and the region. Vietjet is committed to leading high-impact transactions that help strengthen a forward-looking and sustainable aviation finance ecosystem to support future regional growth.”
Major Fleet Expansion with Engine Agreement
To strengthen its fleet, Vietjet has secured a significant agreement with Pratt & Whitney for 44 additional engines to power its growing Airbus A320neo family. The order comprises 24 A321neos and 20 A321XLRs, increasing Vietjet’s total GTF-powered aircraft orders to 137. Deliveries are set to begin in July 2026, with Pratt & Whitney offering full maintenance support through a 12-year EngineWise® service agreement.
Since introducing its first A321neo in 2018, Vietjet has significantly expanded its fleet with GTF-powered A320 family aircraft, known for offering up to 20% lower fuel consumption and a 75% reduction in noise compared to previous-generation engines. This new order highlights the airline’s dedication to improving operational efficiency and environmental sustainability, positioning it to meet the growing demand for travel across Asia-Pacific.
Strategic Vision for Connectivity and Regional Growth
Vietjet’s expansion strategy aligns closely with its goal to enhance connectivity between Vietnam and key markets in Asia-Pacific. With nearly 600 aircraft on order, the airline is poised to play a pivotal role in the region’s aviation sector as it continues to grow. As Asia-Pacific is set to become the world’s largest aviation market in the coming decades, Vietjet’s modern fleet and expanding network ensure that the airline will remain at the forefront of regional aviation development.
The airline’s expanding fleet, combined with its network growth, positions Vietjet as a driving force in the region’s economic development. By continuing to build one of the most modern, flexible, and sustainable aviation operations in the industry, Vietjet is set to contribute significantly to the broader growth and economic impact of the Asia-Pacific region.
