Walmart is looking to build a drone delivery station in East Cobb, Georgia, United States. East Cobb News reports that the retail giant will ask Cobb commissioners later this month to set aside part of the parking area at the Johnson Ferry Road store for the drone station.
The article states that the applicant is a project manager with Atwell, a company that is partnering with Walmart and a third-party drone service to develop the proposed East Cobb drone station site.
“The Walmart deliveries would be for light parcels, typically under five pounds, and would cover a radius of a few miles,” East Cobb News reports. Walmart drone deliveries are typically around 6-8 miles (approximately 9-13 km).
Wing and Walmart are embarking on the next chapter of the world’s largest drone delivery expansion to evolve our service from a regional success into a delivery option across the nation.
In January, Walmart and Wing announced plans to expand drone delivery services to an additional 150 stores over the coming year, stretching to more than 270 drone delivery locations in 2027.
