Lufthansa has received certification for most of its Allegris business class seats on the Boeing 787-9, allowing the airline to begin selling the new cabin product after months of limited availability.
Since October 2025, the carrier had been operating Dreamliners equipped with the Allegris interior but was unable to offer the majority of business class seats due to pending certification from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration. As a result, a significant portion of the cabin remained blocked despite the aircraft flying regular routes.
The situation began to change on March 15, when a Boeing 787-9 registered D-ABPM operated a flight from Frankfurt to Toronto with 25 certified business class seats available. Lufthansa said these seats are now cleared for commercial use, while the remaining seats are still awaiting approval.

In total, 25 out of 28 seats in the Allegris business class cabin have been certified so far. Other 787-9 aircraft in the fleet equipped with the new interior are entering service with the approved seat configuration.
The certification allows Lufthansa to open bookings for these seats across its 787-9 network, including flights from Frankfurt to destinations such as Rio de Janeiro, Bogotá and Austin.
The airline has taken delivery of ten Boeing 787-9 aircraft, nine of which are currently in service. Lufthansa plans to expand the Dreamliner fleet to 29 units by the end of 2027.
Passengers can now select different seat types within the Allegris business class, including standard seats as well as options offering additional space, privacy or extended bed length for an extra fee, while a small number of seats remain unavailable pending certification.
