Tecnam, one of the leading manufacturers of light sport-eligible aircraft, is helping flight schools build their fleets in anticipation of the FAA’s Modernization of Special Airworthiness Certification (MOSAIC) rule implementation by opening a delivery slot program.
Starting this week, Tecnam is taking fully refundable deposits for two of its flagship models that have evolved to embrace the opportunities created by MOSAIC as part of Tecnam’s MOSAIK59 line.
MOSAIC, unveiled in July of 2025 and expected to be fully implemented this summer, has redefined light sport aircraft (LSA) by replacing the definition by a weight restriction of 1,320 lbs with performance-based criteria such as a clean stall speed of 59 knots. The rule will make it possible for pilots with sport pilot certificates to obtain training to fly aircraft that were previously out of their grasp because of the weight limitation.
When the new rules were announced, aircraft manufacturers and flight schools across the country started researching ways to bring more sport pilots into the fold. One way to do that is to acquire new aircraft in addition to having legacy trainers as part of the fleet.
The Tecnam Astore GT and the P2008 NG are leading the company’s MOSAIK59 line. According to Tecnam, the priority program allows pilots, flight schools, and operators to secure early production slots ahead of the full MOSAIC rule implementation this summer. Customers can secure a delivery slot for either aircraft with a fully refundable deposit of $10,000. Deliveries for the secured slots are aimed for the first and second quarters of 2027.
“MOSAIC opens a new era of opportunities across the aviation community, and we want to ensure our customers are the very first to benefit,” said Giovanni Pascale Langer, managing director at Tecnam S.p.A. “Our MOSAIK59 line is engineered to maximize these new privileges. This deposit program is our way of helping pilots access the future of aviation with guaranteed priority on our production line.”
