Helicopter cargo hook specialists, Mechanical Specialties, LLC, has announced it has received its second FAA Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for the ADEC™ (Advanced Dual External Cargo) Hook Model 650. This latest certification expands ADEC™ capability to Bell Medium platforms, including the 204, 205, 212, 412, and UH-1H, marking a major milestone in next-generation external load technology.
At its core, the ADEC™ Hook integrates:
• Two fully independent load systems within a single unit
• Dual actuation capability for redundancy and control
• Seamless operation between HEC (Human External Cargo) and NHEC missions
The company says that compared with conventional systems, no components are removed or reconfigured when transitioning between mission profiles. Both HEC and non-HEC loads are continuously supported by the system’s dual load beams, significantly reducing operational complexity and risk.
