Ground handler Menzies Aviation is integrating its freight forwarding subsidiary Air Menzies International (AMI) to offer a broader service to customers.
Under the integration, AMI, which provides wholesale airfreight services, will continue to operate under its own brand but will become part of the Menzies Aviation Cargo division led by Beau Paine, executive vice president of cargo, and the company’s regional divisions.
Meanwhile, Carlos Font, who is currently executive vice president, AMI, will leave the business.
The company said it would now be able to offer ground handling, cargo management, freight forwarding and e-commerce capabilities through Menzies Cargo.
The integration follows a strategic review by the Menzies Aviation executive management board.
“This is a positive development for both businesses,” said Paine. “By bringing AMI into our cargo division, we can offer airline partners and customers something unique – the depth of AMI’s freight forwarding expertise combined with the scale and reach of Menzies Aviation.
“The AMI brand remains and customers can expect the same high-quality service, now backed by even greater capability.”
Philipp Joeinig, group chief executive, Menzies Aviation said: “By combining AMI’s freight forwarding expertise with the scale and capabilities of Menzies Aviation, we can deliver a more connected, end-to-end service while keeping the flexibility and trusted relationships our customers value.
“AMI’s brand and neutrality is key to what makes it successful and this will not change. By joining the Menzies Cargo division, AMI teams can tap into a broader global network and shared expertise, while continuing to do what they do best.”
The company said that Font had made great strides in developing AMI’s digital solutions, alongside growing the network into major trade lanes.
Menzies Aviation operates in 347 airports in 65 countries.
