Armenia has signed a contract for six Airbus H145 helicopters, becoming the latest customer for the twin-engine rotorcraft amid a string of recent orders announced by the European manufacturer.
The agreement entered into force following the state visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to Armenia and marks the country’s first acquisition from Airbus Helicopters.
The six helicopters will be used for transport missions and are expected to form the backbone of a new fleet for Armenian government operations.
The order continues a strong period of commercial activity for the H145 program. Airbus Helicopters has announced several recent sales of the type across both civil and government markets, reinforcing the aircraft’s position as one of the company’s most successful light twin-engine products.
The order brings a new supplier into Armenia’s helicopter fleet, which has long been dominated by Soviet and Russian-built types.
Airbus highlighted the H145’s ability to operate in mountainous terrain and at high altitudes, characteristics particularly relevant for Armenia’s geography. Much of the country lies at elevations above 1,000 meters and includes extensive mountain ranges.
The H145 is Airbus Helicopters’ largest light twin-engine model and is widely used for emergency medical services, law enforcement, utility work, passenger transport and military support missions.
More than 1,800 helicopters from the H145 family are currently in service worldwide, accumulating over 8.5 million flight hours.
The latest five-bladed version offers increased payload capacity and reduced maintenance requirements compared with earlier variants. The aircraft is powered by two Safran Arriel 2E engines and equipped with Airbus’ Helionix avionics suite and a four-axis autopilot.
