Embraer has signed a new logistics support agreement for the Brazilian Air Force’s KC-390 Millennium fleet. The contract covers aircraft already in service as well as the remaining units yet to be delivered, although the value of the agreement was not disclosed.
According to the company, the package includes spare parts supply, component repairs, engineering services, technical publications and support for operational requirements.
The Brazilian Air Force is the launch customer of the KC-390 and has 19 aircraft on order. The transport jet entered service in 2019 and has since been used in military transport, humanitarian relief, medical evacuation and firefighting missions.
The agreement comes at a time when the KC-390 program is gaining traction internationally. In recent months, Embraer has advanced several export campaigns and expanded the aircraft’s presence in NATO countries and other markets traditionally served by Lockheed Martin and Airbus transports.
Last week, the Greek government formally submitted a defense procurement package to parliament that includes the acquisition of three KC-390 Millennium aircraft. The proposal still requires legislative approval but is considered one of the country’s main military transport modernization projects.
Embraer is also preparing to deliver the first KC-390 to the Czech Air Force. The aircraft recently received its final operational camouflage scheme and is expected to arrive in the Czech Republic within the coming weeks, while a second aircraft is scheduled for delivery in 2027.
Another country being closely watched is Turkey. In May, Turkish Air Force Commander Gen. Ziya Cemal Kadıoğlu visited Portugal to review KC-390 operations, including the simulator and maintenance infrastructure used by the Portuguese Air Force, the aircraft’s first operator in Europe.
Growing international demand has led Embraer to increase its production ambitions for the program. Earlier this month, CEO Francisco Gomes Neto said the company plans to raise KC-390 output to 10 aircraft per year by 2030 as additional export campaigns move forward.
In addition to Brazil, the KC-390 has been selected by Portugal, Hungary, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Austria, South Korea, Sweden, Slovakia, Lithuania, Uzbekistan and the United Arab Emirates.
