Ted Lasso fans know the leafy southwest London neighborhood of Richmond as the idyllic backdrop where Jason Sudeikis’s lovable American coach brought his signature optimism to English soccer. Viewers will get another taste of that charming enclave when the Apple TV series returns for its fourth season, which follows Lasso as he takes on the challenge of coaching a women’s team. For fans tracking the show’s real-life locations, one of the neighborhood’s most prominent historic homes has recently stepped into the spotlight.
Known as Gloucester House, the stately Victorian mansion made a notable appearance in season three of the Emmy-winning comedy as the home belonging to the boyfriend of AFC Richmond player Colin Hughes, played by Billy Harris. The residence has also lent its grand period backdrop to other productions, making cameos in the Amazon Prime Video thriller Malice and the Sky drama series Gangs of London.

Built between 1845 and 1850 in the Italianate style, Gloucester House earned Grade II listed status in 2003 to protect its historic architecture. The exterior features classical details like curved window bays, decorative hood molds, and a Tuscan-inspired porch framing the front entrance. Tucked behind gates on Richmond Hill, the roughly 8,800-square-foot estate carries a price tag of 15 million pounds, or about $19.8 million. Daniel Hutchins, head of sales at Savills Richmond, holds the listing.

The home’s current owners, British designer and entrepreneur Paul Stead and his wife, Julia—who co-founded a local program that opens private neighborhood gardens to the public—purchased the property in 2002. They spent the next four years executing a comprehensive restoration, preserving the home’s original core elements, including a sweeping staircase with a mahogany handrail, marble fireplaces, and intricate plaster cornices, while updating the underlying infrastructure.

Today, the lower level functions as the home’s primary social space, combining a large family room with a bespoke Bulthaup kitchen outfitted with Sub-Zero, Gaggenau, and Miele appliances. The extensive overhaul also introduced modern features, including underfloor heating and full air conditioning. The estate sits on nearly half an acre of landscaped grounds, with a covered veranda overlooking formal lawns, a pond, and a vegetable garden, as well as—an uncommon feature for the area—a 41-foot heated swimming pool.
“It is incredibly rare to find gardens of this scale and privacy in London,” Hutchins noted, adding that the property’s position provides a private retreat while keeping the expansive green spaces of Richmond Park right down the street.
