Raoul Sreenivasan has left Amazon Air to join the e-commerce organisation’s middle-mile organisation.
The change of role will see Sreenivasan join Amazon Transportation Services as vice president. The division covers the journey from the fulfilment centre to a delivery station.
According to his LinkedIn profile, he will be responsible for Amazon’s global aviation network, North America surface transportation, trucking network and sortation centre operations.
“We’re reuniting Amazon Air with our ground transportation and sort centre teams under one connected network, which is great for our customers and our team members,” he said in a social media post.
“Bringing these operations together as one team means faster decisions, sharper planning, and a more seamless journey for every package we move,” he added.
According to Amazon, its Amazon Transportation Services division is tasked with identifying the fastest and most convenient way to move packages to their final destination.
Sreenivasan’s move comes as Amazon has been expanding its transportation offering in recent months.
In May, the company expanded its third-party logistics offering with the launch of Amazon Supply Chain Services (ASCS).
Services offered through ASCS include freight, distribution, fulfilment, and parcel shipping solutions.
The freight part of the offering includes Amazon’s transportation network covering ocean, air, ground, and rail freight, supported by a fleet of 80,000 trailers, 24,000 intermodal containers, and 100 aircraft.
