In the market for a TV that won’t take up too much wall space? AWOL Vision might have just what you’re looking for.
The company has just unveiled the LuxVision, its latest ultra-short-throw (UST) projector, according to New Atlas. The new device can project a giant 4K image with a high refresh from around a half foot away. It also features a rare optical shift function that allows you to adjust image positioning without much fuss.
UST laser projectors have become the go-to device for anyone who wants a massive TV but doesn’t want it hogging too much wall space. The devices aren’t exactly compact—the LuxeVision 22.1 inches long, 12.7 inches wide, and 5.5 inches tall—but they’re easy to tuck away and represent less of an eyesore than a huge black void in the middle of your living room. It doesn’t hurt that AWOL Vision’s latest also sports a clean minimalistic look, an aluminum casing, and oak trim, which should help it blend in with even the most stylish settings.

But performance is what really separates the LuxVision from the rest of the increasingly crowded UST projector pack. The device features a 0.18:1 throw ratio, which means its tri-laser RGB light source can produce a 120-inch 4K image from just 7.5 inches away from a wall or screen. The projector can reportedly produce an image of up to 200 inches, but AWOL Vision doesn’t note how much additional room is needed for it to reach that size.
Whatever the size of the image, viewers can expect a picture that is bright and responsive even when watching live sporting events. The light source offers 6,000 ISO lumens and the device is capable of achieving a 120 Hz refresh rate, even at 4K resolution. Combine that with a one-millisecond input lag, and you have a projector that should please not just film buffs and sports fans, but gamers as well. The device also features a one-touch optical lens shift function that lets users precisely adjust image positioning without losing resolution. AWOL Vision says the projector is the first to combine 4K resolution, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and optical shift into a single package.
Intrigued? AWOL Vision say that the LuxVision, which debuted at IFA Berlin earlier this week, will launch in October. Pricing for the projector will start at $5,999.
