Each day, the team at Aircraft For Sale picks an airplane that catches our attention because it is unique, represents a good deal, or has other interesting qualities. You can read Aircraft For Sale: Today’s Top Pick at FLYINGMag.com daily.
Today’s Top Pick Is a 1977 Piper PA-32R-300 Lance.
Piper built its first four-seat, modestly powered PA-28 Cherokee in the middle of the 20th century to compete with Cessna’s popular 172 Skyhawk. During decades of production, that basic low-wing model evolved into a full lineup that included two-seat trainers, utilitarian six-seaters, and even light twins.
The company stretched the PA-28 into the PA-32 Cherokee Six after recognizing the need for a larger aircraft capable of carrying six people. Years later, when customers began to ask for a faster version that was better suited to long-distance travel, Piper added retractable landing gear and other changes resulting in the Lance. The sleek, roomy machine was a hit that developed further into the strong-selling Saratoga, which continued in production through the early 2000s.
Today, the Lance represents a fairly economical path to comfortable cross-country flying. Its large cabin can accommodate six people but also provides a family of four with space to stretch out and change positions on long flights while carrying much more baggage than four-place models can handle.
The aircraft for sale today has the club seating option, with the second and third rows of seats facing each other. This configuration maximizes legroom while making interaction among passengers easier. Pilots will enjoy the Lance’s impressive power, generous useful load, and stable, forgiving flight characteristics.
This 1977 Piper PA-32R-300 Lance has 2,222 hours on the airframe and 1,187 hours on its Lycoming IO-540-K1G5D engine. It has no damage history, a useful load of 1,412 pounds, and complete logs. Engine oil hoses and landing gear power pack were replaced in 2024, and a new ignition harness was installed in 2022. The aircraft is equipped with Knots 2U wingtips, a shimmy damper and Zero Breeze air conditioning.

The panel includes Garmin GNS 530 and GNS 430 GPS/nav/coms, GTX 330 transponder, GMA 345 audio panel, GDL SiriusXM receiver, JPI EDM 730 engine monitor, Piper Autocontrol IIIB autopilot, Davtron clock, uAvionix tailBeacon for ADS-B Out and ACK Technologies ELT.
Pilots seeking a high-performance piston single with an impressive useful load and the added flexibility of six seats in a roomy cabin should consider this 1977 Piper PA-32R-300 Lance, which is available for $189,900 on AircraftForSale.
