AXIS Flight Simulation (AXIS) has announced its entry to the helicopter market with two simulators a flight simulation training device (FSTD) and a flight training device (FTD) which will be feature type specific cockpits and flight dynamics will have high resolution visual systems partnered with a 6-DOF electric motion system which says the company will deliver an ‘unmatched realism’ for helicopter operations including offshore and NVG operations.
The visual system will render in real time weather landscape and operational surroundings and also allow both single and multi crew operations.
The core platform and visual system can remain common, while the aircraft-specific cockpit can be changed for different helicopter types. This, says the company, will allow AXIS Flight Simulation to expand the aircraft it supports without developing an entirely new training system for each one.
Christian Theuermann, Executive Board Member at AXIS, says: “Our expansion into helicopter simulation marks an important milestone in AXIS’ growth and strengthens our ability to offer a broad range of high-quality, specialist training solutions. As an increasingly important part of the aviation landscape, the rotary-wing sector requires advanced training technology that reflects the complexity of real-world operations, and we look forward to applying our expertise in high-fidelity simulation to help operators enhance safety and capability in their training.”
