Bechtle Additive Manufacturing Deutschland has acquired the HP 3D printing business of Kaut-Bullinger GmbH & Co. KG through an asset deal, a move that reinforces Bechtle’s position as HP‘s top global partner in additive manufacturing (AM).
The deal combines Bechtle with its largest competitor in the German HP 3D printing market, while also further strengthening its presence in Austria. It brings established customer relationships, an experienced team, existing HP manufacturer and partner agreements, and new services for HP direct customers across both markets. With the sale, Kaut-Bullinger, a long-established family-owned company, is exiting the 3D printing sector entirely.
By folding Kaut-Bullinger’s 3D printing unit into its existing sales, service, and administrative structures, Bechtle expects to realize operational synergies and increase capacity utilization. The company also points to opportunities for growing business with existing customers and expanding recurring revenue from services, care packs, and consumables, alongside its partnership with HP.
Bechtle’s PLM, CAD, and AM network now spans nine countries, combining its own AM companies in Germany and Switzerland with sister firms EuroSolid in Hungary, Nuovamacut in Italy, Cadmes in Benelux and France, and DriveWorks in the UK, backed by more than 1,000 specialists. The purchase price and other terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“With Bechtle, we have found a strong partner that is ideally positioned to successfully drive the long-term development of the 3D printing business, and provide customers, employees and partners with a promising future as part of our strategic realignment,” said Georg Nusser, managing director of Kaut-Bullinger. “We are confident that customers will benefit from Bechtle’s technological expertise, service organisation and broad market reach.”
Patrick Schnizler, managing director of Bechtle AM Deutschland, said the acquisition further consolidates the company’s position in the AM market, adding customer relationships, installed systems, and application and service expertise. “At the same time, the acquisition is deepening our partnership with HP, enabling us to support customers even more comprehensively across the entire industrial 3D printing value chain,” he said.
“Additive manufacturing is a strategic growth area for Bechtle. As we continue to strengthen our leading position in Europe, broaden our market presence across the DACH region and expand into selected European markets, the expansion of our HP 3D printing business marks an important next step,” said Uwe Burk, executive vice president of PLM, engineering and manufacturing at Bechtle AG.

How the Kaut-Bullinger Deal Fits a Wider HP Channel Pattern
Bechtle’s acquisition follows a specific strategy: deepening an already-strong position within HP’s 3D printing channel by absorbing a rival reseller’s customer base, instead of diversifying into other printer brands or adjacent business lines. The deal keeps Bechtle inside its existing technology and geographic lane, while removing its largest domestic competitor.
A similar channel consolidation played out in the US HP 3D printing market this year, when Master Graphics (M5D) absorbed TPM’s HP 3D printing and Advanced Manufacturing Technologies division. Like Bechtle, M5D had already built its entire operation around HP 3D printing, and the deal deepened that footprint without a strategic pivot. The parallel stops at scale and geography: M5D’s deal covered a single reseller’s HP business within one country, while Bechtle’s move also folds in service and administrative structures across two markets, Germany and Austria.
As the HP 3D printing channel matures, the specialists already built around it are growing by absorbing rivals’ accounts instead of adding new brands.
