US cargo airline Ameriflight has named David Harvey as its new president and chief executive.
Harvey brings more than 25 years of aviation leadership experience spanning airlines, charter aviation, cargo, and global travel.
Throughout his career, he has led complex organisations through periods of growth and transformation, with extensive experience across operations, commercial strategy, network planning, technology, and customer experience.
Most recently, Harvey worked in an executive advisory capacity to airlines, travel technology companies, and enterprise clients on commercial strategy, sales effectiveness, distribution, and AI-enabled transformation.
He also previously served as chief commercial officer of Wheels Up, where his responsibilities included global marketing, sales, pricing, and revenue management.
Additionally, Harvey spent more than two decades at Southwest Airlines, culminating in his role as chief sales officer. In that position, he led the airline’s sales organisation across corporate, small and medium-sized business, government, and university segments, with responsibility for key distribution partnerships and strategy.
Earlier in his Southwest career, he held leadership roles across corporate strategy, network planning, commercial performance, and technology, and helped lead the integration of AirTran Airways.
“David brings the combination of aviation expertise, commercial discipline, and leadership experience we believe will help Ameriflight build on its strong foundation and accelerate its next chapter of growth,” said Ameriflight chairman Jim Martell.
“Ameriflight plays an important role in the aviation and logistics ecosystem, and we see significant opportunity to expand our customer base, diversify our revenue mix, and pursue new avenues for growth. David’s experience leading and scaling complex aviation businesses makes him well suited to lead the company forward.”
“Ameriflight has built a remarkable business with an experienced team, a strong operating platform, and an important role serving customers across the aviation and logistics industries,” added Harvey.
“I’m excited to join the team and build on that foundation. We have a tremendous opportunity ahead of us to grow the business while continuing to deliver the safety, reliability, and service our customers depend on.”
Headquartered in Dallas, Texas, Ameriflight is the largest Part 135 cargo airline in the US, with over 100 aircraft.
Ameriflight provides feeder services for overnight express carriers such as UPS and DHL, as well as on-demand cargo charter services.
