As part of the deal, the airframer has also acquired certain engineering and manufacturing assets in Brazil.
Embraer now owns all of a Mexican cabin-component manufacturing business after buying out joint-venture partner Safran.
The Brazilian company on 1 July said it had completed the planned acquisition of Safran’s 50% share of Chihuahua-based EZ Air Interior, which produces galleys, lavatories, flooring, overhead bins and other cabin products for its E-Jet family.
With the deal, Embraer also acquired Safran assets in the Brazilian city of Jacarei, including engineering and manufacturing work specific to E-Jets.
However, Safran has retained Brazilian engineering activities unrelated to Embraer.
Francisco Gomes Neto, Embraer chief executive, says the acquisition reflects his company’s “strategy to expand operations”.
Embraer and Zodiac Aerospace established EZ Air in 2012. Safran acquired Zodiac in 2018.
