FedEx has launched a non-stop freighter service between its Asia-Pacific hub in Guangzhou, China, and Sydney, Australia.
The route between Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport and Sydney Airport operates five times weekly with Boeing 777 freighters.
It is designed to strengthen trade connectivity into Australia from key markets across Asia, including southern mainland China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines.
FedEx said the service will offer Asia and Australian based shippers increased capacity for heavyweight and high-value goods, as well as improved speed-to-market.
“In today’s environment of shifting supply chains and rising customer expectations, competitive advantage is defined by the strength and reliability of our network,” said Salil Chari, president, Asia Pacific, FedEx.
“This enhancement reinforces the depth of our intra-Asia connectivity, enabling customers to access key markets like Australia faster, operate with greater agility and capture more growth opportunities with confidence.
“It also supports more resilient supply chains that underpin long-term, sustainable business growth.”
The Guangzhou-Sydney flight forms part of FedEx’s ongoing investments in Asia. Last year, the airline launched Boeing 767F flights between Guangzhou and Penang International Airport in Malaysia, operating five times a week.
FedEx also added five weekly 767F flights between Guangzhou and and Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport in Thailand.
The airline further began operating a weekly flight connecting Incheon International Airport in Korea, Noi Bai International in Hanoi, Vietnam, and Guangzhou.
