flynas has firmed up an order for five additional A330-900s and 20 A321neos, Airbus announced on Wednesday at the Farnborough International Airshow.
The latest agreement raises the airline’s commitment for the A330neo from 15 to 20 aircraft and for the A321neo from 36 to 56. The order had been booked by Airbus in March under an undisclosed customer.
The Saudi low-cost carrier already operates an all-Airbus fleet of 70 aircraft, including 61 A320neos, three A321ceos, three A320ceos, one A330-200 and two A330-300s.
Although the A330-900 has yet to join the airline’s fleet permanently, flynas has operated the type before through leases from Indonesia’s Lion Air. Those aircraft were configured with nearly 440 seats and were used primarily on high-density pilgrimage services.

“This step is aimed at ensuring the sustainable growth of the flynas fleet over the coming years,” CEO and Managing Director Bander Almohanna said.
The additional aircraft deepen flynas’ commitment to Airbus at a time when Saudi airlines are placing some of the industry’s largest aircraft orders. Earlier this year, Riyadh Air ordered additional Airbus and Boeing widebodies, while flynas continues to build a fleet that now totals 235 firm Airbus aircraft on order.
