Adidas has unveiled Futurecool, a fully 3D printed sneaker built on the brand’s Climacool ventilation legacy. A limited run of 400 individually numbered pairs went up for raffle on the CONFIRMED app on 28 August, with the wider release following on 1 April 2027, when the shoe goes on sale worldwide for €180 in unisex UK sizes 4–14.
A single-piece build
Futurecool departs from Adidas’ usual assembly process. Rather than stitching or molding separate components, the brand’s latest additive manufacturing techniques print the shoe as one continuous structure, fusing resin with specialized materials into a seamless upper and sole unit. Adidas frames the approach as a shift beyond conventional manufacturing, aimed at bringing 3D printed footwear to a broader market rather than treating it as a novelty or one-off concept piece.
That construction also shapes the fit. Adidas says the upper adapts naturally to the foot, giving it a second-skin feel that moves with the wearer throughout the day. Around it runs a 360-degree ventilation system, which the company calls industry-leading, surrounding the foot with lightweight comfort and keeping every step feeling cool and effortless.
Visually, Futurecool leans into sculpted proportions and flowing curves rather than a standard sneaker outline, with Adidas’ signature Three Stripes worked into the silhouette to set it apart from conventional footwear design. The company is billing it as its boldest design to date, aimed less at performance runners and more at buyers looking for a distinct style statement.

Rollout Timeline
Adidas is staging the launch in two phases. The first, now underway, is a scarcity-driven raffle: 400 numbered pairs, with entries that opened 28 August through the CONFIRMED app, giving a small group of buyers early access months ahead of general availability. The second phase is the commercial launch, set for 1 April 2027, when Futurecool moves into standard retail and online distribution at €180.
The roughly eight-month gap between the raffle and the full launch mirrors a pattern Adidas has used before with hype-driven releases: a small, numbered batch builds early buzz and signals exclusivity, while the brand uses the intervening months to scale production before a global rollout. For a shoe built on a 3D printing process rather than traditional mass manufacturing, that lead time also suggests Adidas is using the raffle period to work out production at volume before committing to worldwide stock.
From Novelty to Volume
Futurecool’s real proposition isn’t the design, it’s the manufacturing math behind it. Adidas has spent years moving 3D printing from a prototyping tool toward a mainstream production line, and the messaging around this launch “at scale,” “beyond conventional manufacturing,” signals the company no longer wants 3D printed shoes treated as limited-edition curiosities.
Zellerfeld’s GEN3 printing system captures the same strategy happening industry-wide. Launched to run three times faster than its predecessor while staying multi-color capable and fully autonomous, the platform’s stated goal is putting printed shoes on every foot, not just a raffle-winning few.

Elastium and manufacturing partner LaLaLand approached the same volume problem from the fit side. Their hybrid production model pairs 3D printing with conventional mass manufacturing specifically so brands can launch a limited 3D printed run first, then reintroduce the same design through full-scale production without compromising quality or fit, treating the printed version and the mass-produced version as the same shoe, not a downgrade.
Futurecool, then, isn’t Adidas’ first 3D printing experiment, it’s the latest step in an effort, shared across the industry, to make single-piece printed shoes an ordinary retail item without losing the fit that printing made possible in the first place.
