THYRA GmbH, a German drone company specializing in counter-unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS), and one of the largest Ukrainian defence technology manufacturer TAF Industries have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on strategic cooperation. The signing took place at the Ukrainian Embassy during the German-Ukrainian government consultations in Berlin, according to a TAF Industries press release.
“As part of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s meeting with the German chancellor Friedrich Merz at the Federal Chancellery, TAF Industries’ interceptor drone TAF Kolibri-i10 was showcased to both state leaders as one of the most effective and highly battle-proven unmanned systems that has successfully intercepted thousands of drones to date. At the same time, the growing strategic importance of bilateral partnership between Germany and Ukraine was underscored, particularly in the context of joint technological developments and industrial cooperation to strengthen air defence across Europe.”
The two companies will mass-produce interceptor drones under the “Build with Ukraine” initiative via a joint venture together in Germany.
“This will accelerate the delivery of critical defence systems to Ukraine, increase their access to interceptor systems, and unlock scalable mass production capabilities of drones in Germany,” according to the press release. “The companies combine deep, field-proven expertise in developing, manufacturing, and deploying unmanned systems which will be utilized in joint forces to support Ukraine’s defense against ongoing ruthless drone attacks. The partners also intend to collaborate on future solutions in the field of dual-use C-UAS. Following their support for Ukraine, they plan to manufacture these systems to meet high demand across Germany, Europe, and other NATO countries for drone-based air defense in both military and civilian context.
