Measurement company Hexagon is to acquire non-destructive testing technology provider Waygate Technologies from Baker Hughes for around US$1.45 billion.
Waygate Technologies specializes in computed tomography (CT), radiography and remote visual inspection (RVI) and serves customers across the aerospace, automotive, energy and industrial manufacturing sectors. The Germany-headquartered business employs approximately 1,500 people across 25 locations and generated around US$630 million in revenue in fiscal year 2025.
The acquisition extends Stockholm-based Hexagon’s precision measurement capabilities from the surface of components to their interior geometry. Hexagon’s existing coordinate measuring machine and metrology software portfolio will be combined with Waygate’s CT and radiography systems to create an integrated inspection platform.
“This acquisition is a natural and exciting evolution of Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence’s strategy,” said Anders Svensson, president and CEO of Hexagon. “Waygate Technologies brings world-class inspection technology and deeply loyal customer relationships in markets that are highly complementary to our own.”
Waygate’s RVI business serves aerospace maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) customers, enabling the inspection of aircraft jet engines without the need for disassembly. Hexagon said this will diversify its revenue exposure into recurring asset integrity testing markets driven by fleet utilization and regulatory requirements.
The transaction is expected to close before the end of this year, subject to regulatory approvals.
