Joby Aviation has commenced its first eVTOL Integration Pilot Program (eIPP) flights, as part of a week-long campaign across the Dallas-Fort Worth region.
On September 10, 2026, Joby Aviation performed a demonstration at Perot Field Fort Worth Alliance Airport (AFW), the first eIPP flight to be held in Texas.
In March 2026, the Transportation Department unveiled the eIPP program for the testing of advanced air mobility vehicles and their real-world applications.
Among the developers selected to take part were Archer Aviation, BETA Technologies, Electra, Wisk, and Joby itself.
BETA Technologies was the first to launch an eIPP flight back in July 2026, in Maryland and Virginia. Although not eVTOL developers, Electra and Elroy Air have also completed eIPP flights.
On September 12, 2026, Joby’s aircraft will fly a roundtrip flight from AFW to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and enter controlled airspace, in order to test flight operations between major airports.
Joby will also conduct a round-trip flight from AFW to demonstrate low-noise operations over major infrastructure, including the Fort Worth Stockyards.
Later in the week, Joby will complete a flight along the planned operational route connecting AFW to Toyota’s corporate campus.
Conducted under Texas DOT’s Project Nexus proposal, the North Texas flights bring together federal, state, and local governments with private industry to accelerate the safe integration of electric air taxis into US airspace.
