LATAM will resume nonstop flights between Santiago, Chile, and Caracas, Venezuela, more than two years after direct air services between the two countries were suspended.
The new service will begin on January 3, 2027, with four weekly flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. LATAM will use Airbus A320neo aircraft on the route, with a scheduled flight time of 6 hours and 40 minutes.
The airline expects to carry more than 50,000 passengers during the route’s first year of operation.
Direct flights between Chile and Venezuela ended in September 2024, when the Venezuelan government indefinitely suspended commercial passenger services to and from Chile.

The measure came during a sharp deterioration in relations between the two countries following Venezuela’s presidential election in July 2024. The Chilean government did not recognize the result that declared Nicolás Maduro the winner. In September, then-President Gabriel Boric described the Venezuelan government as a “dictatorship” during a speech at the United Nations General Assembly.
One day later, Venezuela’s National Institute of Civil Aeronautics (INAC) suspended commercial air services with Chile. The agency did not publicly state that the measure was retaliation for Boric’s remarks, and the Chilean government described the suspension at the time as unilateral and unjustified.
LATAM already flies to Caracas
The Santiago route will not mark LATAM’s return to Venezuela. LATAM Airlines Colombia restored flights between Bogotá and Caracas in February 2026 and currently operates the route daily.
Passengers traveling from Chile have therefore been able to reach Caracas through LATAM’s network with a connection in Bogotá. The new service restores the nonstop link between the Chilean and Venezuelan capitals.
Santiago is LATAM’s main hub in Chile, allowing the Caracas service to connect with domestic destinations and other international routes across the group’s network.
Tickets for the new Santiago-Caracas flights are already on sale.
