US home improvement retailer Lowe’s has launched a drone delivery service. A pilot is now live at Lowe’s store in Matthews, North Carolina, and aims to deliver orders in 20 minutes.
The Lowe’s launch is in partnership with Wing and DoorDash, which have existing drone delivery operations in the Charlotte area.
Wing drones currently transport orders weighing approximately 2.5 pounds per flight for Lowe’s, with a focus on items suddenly needed during a DIY project, such as a new paintbrush or forgotten cleaners.
