Swiss rental company Maltech has added five new 47 metre Bronto S47 XR truck mounted lifts to its fleet.
The S47XR has a maximum outreach of 26 metres at an up & over height of around 10 metres or 23 metres at an up & over height of 33 metres. It also offers at least nine metres of reach below ground level. Maximum platform capacity is 700kg, or 600kg with the hydraulically extendible basket.

Maltech chose to have the new lifts mounted on a two axle 18 tonne MAN chassis with an overall length of around 10 metres and an overall height of 3.81 metres. The new generation of Bronto S47 XR is based on its predecessor but incorporates improvements in frame design and outrigger technology.

Name change
Finally, the new lifts will carry the company’s new corporate identity, Mateco, with Maltech formally switching over to reflect its ownership by the Luxembourg based rental group. The formal changeover takes place at the start of September.
Chief executive Patrick Moser said: “We are making targeted investments as part of a major fleet renewal programme. As the Swiss market leader for truck-mounted and self-propelled work platforms, these product categories are central to our strategic considerations.”
Maltech was established by Armin Hunziker as a Zurich based commercial painting company in 1966, adding platforms in 1971 to meet its own demands, renting them to third parties as Hunziger Hebebühnen, fully adopting the Maltech name for its rental activities in 2006.
The company was – acquired by Mateco at the end of 2023 and is now said to operate from almost 40 locations with 130 employees.
