Qatar Airways Cargo will increase its offered cargo capacity by 12% through new freighter destinations and belly space on increased passenger flights.
The cargo division of Qatar Airways has relaunched its Boeing 777 freighter service to Vienna, Austria, and added a second 777F to Warsaw, Poland.
Qatar Airways Cargo said the 777F to Vienna will operate on the Doha – Budapest – Vienna – Doha route, while the additional Warsaw freighter will operate on the Doha – Budapest – Warsaw – Doha route.
The carrier will also be able to offer increased bellyhold cargo capacity through the start of new international passenger destinations and expanded services.
These include a new flight to Caracas, Venezuela, via Bogotá, Colombia, commencing from 22 July. The twice-weekly flights will have a total bellyhold capacity of 20 tonnes each way.
The airline is also relaunching flights to Helsinki on 15 July with four weekly passenger flights, increasing to 7 weekly flights on 1 August. Total bellyhold capacity will initially be 40 tonnes, increasing to 70 tonnes on 1 August.
Meanwhile, on 16 July, the Tokyo Haneda route will be relaunched with four weekly passenger flights, increasing to seven weekly flights on 1 August. Total bellyhold capacity will initially be 60 tonnes and increase to 105 tonnes on 1 August.
More frequencies
Qatar is also ramping up frequencies across its network starting in May.
In Africa, the airline has upgraded from Boeing 787 to 777 passenger flights to Addis Ababa, with over 44 tonnes of total cargo capacity each way per week.
Tunis flights have increased from seven to 10 and include cargo capacity per week, each way of over 105 tonnes.
Aside from the new Caracas, via Bogota route, Qatar Airways Cargo will also benefit from plenty of extra bellyhold space on passenger flights to the Americas
Dallas flights have increased from seven to 10 weekly flights with a total cargo capacity per week, each way of 54 tonnes.
Passenger flights to Houston have increased from three to five weekly. Two weekly freighter flights also offer 200 tonnes of capacity each way. There are now 228 tonnes of total cargo capacity per week, each way.
New York flights have increased from 11 to 14 weekly. Total cargo capacity per week, each way is 88 tonnes.
Weekly flights to São Paulo have increased from 11 to 14. Four existing weekly freighter flights also offer 400 tonnes of capacity, each way. There is now over 479 tonnes of total cargo capacity per week, each way.
Capacity in Asia ramps up
Flights to Dhaka have increased from 14 to 17 weekly. Total cargo capacity per week, each way, is now more than 315 tonnes.
Weekly Hong Kong flights have gone up to 14 from 10. 42 existing weekly freighter flights also offer 4,200 tonnes of capacity each way. Total cargo capacity each way per week is 4,474+ tonnes.
Kathmandu flights have increased from 14 to 21 weekly. Total cargo capacity each week, each way is over 270 tonnes.
Flights to Kuala Lumpur will increase from 14 to 21, as of 16 June. Three existing weekly freighter flights offer 300 tonnes of capacity each way, meaning total cargo capacity per week, each way, equals over 683 tonnes.
From 1 June, flights to Shanghai will change from seven to 10 weekly. Eight weekly freighter flights also offer 800 tonnes of capacity each way. Total cargo capacity per week, each way, will be over 985 tonnes.
Europe capacity grows
As well as the relaunch of the Helsinki route, weekly flights to Istanbul have increased from 14 to 17. This is in addition to two existing weekly freighter flights from Istanbul. Total bellyhold cargo capacity per week, each way is 190 tonnes. Total freighter capacity is 200 tonnes each week from Istanbul only.
Vienna weekly flights have increased from four to seven. Total bellyhold cargo capacity per week, each way is over 73 tonnes. The new weekly freighter service adds 100 tonnes each week from Vienna only.
Total cargo capacity per week, each way for the Warsaw route is now more than 273 tonnes. In addition to the extra weekly freighter flight, there are seven existing weekly bellyhold flights.
Middle East changes
Flights to Amman have increased from seven to 14 weekly. One weekly freighter flight also offers 100 tonnes each way. Total cargo capacity per week, each way is over 291 tonnes.
Baghdad has relaunched with two weekly widebody passenger flights. One weekly freighter flight also offers 100 tonnes of capacity each way. Total cargo capacity per week, each way is 115 tonnes.
Four weekly widebody flights have been relaunched to Basra, with total cargo capacity per week, each way of more than 51 tonnes.
Flights to Beirut have been increased from seven to 14 weekly. One weekly freighter flight also offers 100 tonnes of capacity each way. Total cargo capacity per week, each way is 275 tonnes plus.
Dammam weekly flights have increased from 14 to 21. Total cargo capacity per week, each way, is more than 351 tonnes.
