Skyservice’s Vancouver facility is now Bombardier-approved and provides Global and Challenger owners on the West Coast with more options for MRO work. The company announced on June 24 that the facility has been designated as a Bombardier Authorized Service Facility (ASF).There are two types of Bombardier shops: Company Service Centers are owned and staffed by Bombardier itself. An ASF is an independent business that received approval from the company and is now authorized to work on its aircraft to factory standards. The ASF will be able to provide factory-authorized parts access, OEM tooling and data and warranty-compliant work, and is regularly audited by Bombardier to ensure it meets its standards. The Vancouver facility is at the Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and will specifically support the Global and Challenger lines. This includes the Global 5000, 6000, 7500, 8000, the Challenger 350, 3500, 650, and the Learjet 70 and 75.For a West Coast or Western Canada operator, this closer facility means a shorter flight to get serviced, faster AOG recovery and more days the aircraft is available to fly. A decrease in downtime means lower operating friction. That convenience is what owners and buyers are looking for.Skyservice’s existing ASF sites in Toronto (YYZ) and Montreal (YUL) give Bombardier a three-point Canadian ASF footprint and coast-to-coast coverage. YVR is important as it is a major Pacific gateway and can support U.S.-registered aircraft travelling in and out of Western Canada and across the Pacific. The more service support a region has, the more aircraft activity it will likely see. It’s a virtuous circle that benefits both the brand and the end user. Operators on the West Coast and Western Canada take note.
