Taiwan-based carrier, Starlux Airlines, is extending its creative collaboration with Japanese artist Hajime Sorayama. Starlux previously collaborated with Sorayama to create an aircraft conceived as a masterpiece, with the ‘Airsorayama’ liveries in gold and in silver designed as a canvas that showcased Sorayama’s style of hyperrealist mechanical art, resulting in what Sorayama’s described as “a perfect blend of metal and emotion.”
The Airsorayama project has now been extended from aircraft livery design and into the passenger journey, with a collection of inflight amenities, dining elements, and service details. The collection, launching on 1st October, will bring Sorayama’s signature mechanical aesthetics into the cabin.
Art-inspired amenities
The Airsorayama experience begins at the airport, with boarding passes in gold or silver tones (depending on the colour of the aircraft) featuring a 3D light-and-shadow effect, while a visual on the reverse side combines Sorayama’s robot artwork with an Airsorayama-livery aircraft. At the check-in counter, passengers can also receive gold or silver-toned metallic name tags with the distinctive Airsorayama aesthetic.
Once on board, the collection translates Sorayama’s metallic gold and silver palette into a range of inflight amenities and service details, combining mechanical-inspired design with varied materials, textures, and finishes. Sorayama says the contrast between rigid metallic forms and expressive brushstrokes that is reflected throughout the collection captures the visual tension at the heart of his work.
First class and business class customers receive slippers featuring a dark grey base with silver embroidered Airsorayama logos. Customers are also presented with limited-edition amenity kits, with a metallic silver zippered pouch for premium economy guests, and a lightweight silver crossbody bag in economy class. The packaging for the headphones has a semi-transparent finish and mechanical-inspired typography.

A taste of Sorayama
The Airsorayama aesthetic is carried through to dining and serviceware. The first class and business class menus feature metallic finishes and mechanical-inspired lines, complemented by paper cups and 3D acrylic stirrers featuring the Airsorayama logo. The coasters have a gradient metallic sheen and are engraved with a Polaris-inspired starburst.
Even small details like the snack packaging, tissues, towelettes, napkin rings, and aluminium foil all have gold and silver finishes to continue the Airsorayama visual identity. A newly designed inflight safety card features Sexy Robot, a character from the dedicated Airsorayama safety video.

Passengers can also enjoy ‘Airsorayama Chrome Sky’, a limited-edition inflight cocktail crafted with gin and sweet white wine, which combines pear and lychee flavours for a light and refreshing fruity aroma. The delicate pale-gold hue of the cocktail echoes the metallic sheen characteristic of Sorayama’s work, extending the Airsorayama experience to what passengers see, touch, and taste.

How to experience Airsorayama
The Starlux Airsorayama-themed aircraft currently serve Tokyo, Phoenix, and Prague routes. Beginning on 1st October, the themed amenities will be available on all Airsorayama-operated flights.
To celebrate the launch of the new inflight service products, Starlux is partnering with renowned French pastry brand Pierre Hermé Paris to introduce a new macaron welcome gift box for passengers in first class departing Taipei on Airsorayama flights JX800, JX026, and JX101 from 1st October.
“Airsorayama reflects our belief that exceptional design and craftsmanship can transform the flying experience,” said Glenn Chai, CEO of Starlux. “With this collection, we bring that vision into every detail that passengers encounter, from check-in to the final sip of a cocktail inflight.”
