On Oct. 19, the eve of NBAA-BACE, SyberJet will put a full-scale mockup of the SJ36 in front of buyers at Henderson Executive Airport, alongside a program roadmap and an early-owner incentive program. SyberJet Aircraft announced its SJ36 light jet in September 2025 and is targeting certification in 2032. The company calls the nine-seat aircraft its most ambitious program to date and targets record performance levels. The aircraft’s performance targets are still years away from being proven, including a Mach 0.88 top speed, up to 3,000 nautical miles of range and a sea-level cabin altitude. “There has never been a light jet capable of flying up to Mach 0.88 and up to 3,000 nautical miles non-stop while maintaining sea-level cabin pressure up to 41,000 ft.,” said SyberJet CEO Trevor Milton. “You no longer need a…midsize charter to fly coast to coast.” For aircraft buyers, incentive programs on uncertified aircraft contain risk. Details like refund and transfer policies are needed to assure buyers they are protected in the event that certification slips or the aircraft never reaches production. The SJ30-2 program SyberJet inherited reached certification in 2005 but only limited production, with about ten airframes in existence after passing through Sino Swearingen, Emivest and SyberJet. Prospective buyers with limited information available may have to look forward rather than back to evaluate how the program will ultimately progress from development to production. Confidence in SyberJet and its ability to deliver is key. Why it matters The SJ36 remains an aircraft worth watching, but diligent buyers may want to wait and see the fine print. The mockup event will answer some questions about the aircraft. The more important questions involve what buyers receive in exchange for their commitments and what happens if the timeline changes. Those answers will determine whether the program is compelling, regardless of how attractive the aircraft looks on paper or static display. Browse current jet listings on GlobalAir.com.
