Both Ukraine and the United Kingdom have recently installed new defence ministers to government. In the first call between Acting Minister of Defence of Ukraine Evgeniy Khmara and UK Defence Secretary Wes Streeting, the two spoke about building a long-term and mutually beneficial defence partnership.
Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence said on July 25 that the key areas of cooperation between the two countries are strengthening the protection of Ukrainian skies, supporting air capabilities, countering Russian drones and procuring Ukrainian drones and interceptors for defence forces.
“Russia is scaling up its strikes with jet-powered Shaheds,” the ministry said. “Swift decisions by partners in this area can directly save Ukrainian lives and better protect infrastructure.”
