Entrol has announced the sale of a Cabri G2 AATD simulator to the University of Dubuque in Iowa. The simulator is scheduled for installation next year and will be used to support the growth of the University’s helicopter training programmes.
The simulator’s cockpit is built to replicate exactly Guimbal Cabri G2 configuration as the aircraft used by the University for primary flight training with the goal of maintaining continuity between the classroom, simulator and the real aircraft. External imagery is supported by a cylindrical projection system using three projectors and a database containing 10 key airports used by the University. Immersion is enhanced with an integrated vibration system as well as a remote instructor station allowing the addition of failures, weather phenomena to enhance training effectiveness.
“We wanted a simulator that closely matched the aircraft our students actually fly. entrol’s Guimbal G2 simulator offered the aircraft-specific environment and training capabilities we were looking for,” Evan Lawler, Helicopter Chief Pilot at the University of Dubuque. “It will allow our students to practice procedures and challenging scenarios in a controlled environment before encountering them in the aircraft, giving them more repetition while improving safety, confidence, and decision-making”.
The simulator will be an integral part of the University’s curriculum which covers Private, Commercial, Instrument as well as Certified Flight Instructor (CFI and CFII) courses.
