French executive succeeds long-term predecessor Domhnal Slattery.
In a notable coup, the UK’s Vertical Aerospace has appointed former Airbus commercial aircraft chief Fabrice Bregier as its new chair.
Effective 21 September, Bregier succeeds Ben Story, who has held the post on an interim basis since the departure of his predecessor Domhnal Slattery in May; Story remains on Vertical’s board.
Bregier served as chief executive officer of Airbus commercial aircraft from 2012 to 2016, bracketed by two stints as group chief operating officer, running from 2006 to 2012 and 2017 to 2018. Highlights include leading the company turnaround and development of the A350 widebody.
“I have spent much of my career bringing complex aerospace technologies to market, scaling aircraft programmes and building international businesses around them,” says Bregier.
“In my view, Vertical combines exceptional talent, the best product and the most robust strategy to create a category-defining aviation business.”
Vertical is targeting 2029 for certification of its Valo electrical vertical take-off and landing aircraft.
