US businesses under pressure are utilising DHL Express’ Heavy Weight Express (HWX) air service to move sizeable cargo quickly and efficiently.
The HWX service was introduced earlier this year and allows for the transport of cargo up to 2,200 pounds (1,000 kg) per piece and 6,600 pounds (3,000 kg) per shipment.

As well as time‑definite delivery, the service includes end‑to‑end control, monitoring and all‑in pricing that tackles rate volatility, add-on fees and handling surcharges. DHL pointed out the service also reduces shippers’ dependence on fluctuating airline capacity.
The solution hopes to help customers avoid production downtime, manage programme and product launches, optimise working capital by reducing inventory buffers, support procurement‑driven large‑scale shipping environments, comply with special handling requirements and stabilise complex multi‑site supply chains.
HWX is supported by dedicated Heavy Weight Priority Desks around the world. These teams are responsible for proactive tracking, early exception detection, real-time intervention, and direct communication with customers.
