Cargolux has partnered with Cathay Technologies to implement a digital flight folder solution as part of efforts to advance digital flight operations.
The Electronic Flight Folder (EFF) solution digitises flight information, including flight plans, load sheets, and fuel data, into a single platform.
The platform also includes ops chat, a communication tool embedded within the flight workflow for coordination between flight crew and ground teams.
The two companies said that the solution had been designed with “pilots at its core” and would support “faster, better-informed decision-making” and enhance operational efficiency.
Claude Konsbrück, vice president flight operations, Cargolux, said: “We set out to select an Electronic Flight Folder that delivers genuine innovation and moves beyond incremental evolution of legacy concepts.
“The solution from Cathay Technologies combines advanced functionality with a strong pilot‑centered design, supporting safe, efficient, and compliant flight operations within a fully paperless environment at Cargolux.”
Cargolux added that the partnership marks a “significant step forward in advancing digital flight operations within the cargo aviation sector”.
“As airlines continue to digitise operations and manage increasing operational complexity, integrated, real-time flight tools are becoming essential to enhancing safety, efficiency, and sustainability,” the freighter operator said.
The agreement was signed at Cargolux’s headquarters in Luxembourg, in the presence of James Toye, head of line operations, Cathay and chief product owner, Cathay Technologies and Claude Konsbrück, vice president flight operations, Cargolux.
The airline has been investing in its digital systems in recent years. In 2024, it placed its capacity on online booking portal cargo.one.
And at the start of 2022 the carrier added online booking to its website.
In 2021, Cargolux struck a deal with IBS Software for the replacement of its cargo management system.
