The Northern Hemisphere winter season is now underway, and Ryanair has made several changes to its network. Attention is now turning to summer 2027, and the Irish low-cost carrier has announced further changes to its schedule, including several route additions and cancelations.
According to aviation analyst Sean M on X, the airline’s latest schedule update includes nine new international routes, all set to launch at the beginning of the summer season. Some of these additions are particularly interesting, especially in Germany, where Ryanair is adding Kassel-Calden Airport (KSF) to its network despite having reduced its operations elsewhere in the country.
These Are The New Routes Ryanair Is Adding
As we all know, Ryanair has never been hesitant to expand in markets where it sees potential, particularly where aviation taxes and airport charges are relatively low. Equally, it has been quick to reduce capacity in markets where operating costs are higher. Germany is one such example, and the airline has repeatedly criticized the country’s aviation taxes and airport charges.
For the current winter season, Ryanair has cut 700,000 seats from its German network and closed its base at Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER). Looking ahead, in April, it will withdraw from Bremen. So, it is interesting to see the airline adding a brand-new German airport to its network. Starting on March 29, Ryanair will launch twice-weekly flights from KSF to Lamezia Terme Airport (SUF) in Italy. This will be followed by another twice-weekly service to Palma De Mallorca Airport (PMI) in Spain on March 31.
Route | Start Date / Frequency | Remarks |
|---|---|---|
Kassel-Calden – Palma de Mallorca | March 29; 2x weekly | A brand-new airport in the network; likely because of the lower airport taxes |
Kassel-Calden – Lamezia Terme | March 31; 2x weekly | |
Shannon – Milan Bergamo | March 28; 2x weekly | Becomes the fourth Italian route |
Aarhus – Milan Bergamo | March 28; 2x weekly | |
Klagenfurt – Brindisi | March 29; 2x weekly | |
Klagenfurt – Porto | March 30; 2x weekly | |
Alicante – Lübeck | March 30; 2x weekly | Ryanair’s direct act of defiance against the city of Hamburg; the airline will still capture the Northern Germany market |
Málaga – Saarbrücken | March 30; 2x weekly | |
Girona – Bratislava | June 1; 2x weekly |
Indeed, this is a massive win for the airport because it has struggled to attract commercial airlines since opening its new terminal and has no regular scheduled passenger flights during the current 2026/27 winter season. While the financial terms of the agreement have not been made public, the decision suggests that KSF may be offering competitive airport charges and operating costs.
Two More International Routes For Milan Bergamo
While Ryanair has been cutting capacity at several expensive European airports, several other markets such as Spain and Italy are benefiting from its continued expansion. Milan Bergamo Airport (BGY), in particular, has seen considerable investment from the Irish low-cost carrier. It recently added two new aircraft based at the airport, representing an investment of approximately $200 million and bringing its combined Milan-based fleet to 33 aircraft.
In fact, the budget airline is the largest airline at Bergamo. For the current winter season, it has scheduled around 5.87 million seats from the airport, an increase of 5.5% compared to the same period last year. The airline has also introduced several new routes, including a daily domestic service to Reggio Calabria and international connections to Liverpool, Paphos and Rabat.

The expansion will continue into summer 2027. On March 28, Ryanair will add two more international routes to Bergamo. These will connect the Italian airport to Shannon Airport (SNN) in Ireland and Aarhus Airport (AAR) in Denmark, both operating twice-weekly, as noted above in the table.
Where Else Is Ryanair Expanding In Summer 2027?
Ryanair has yet to finalize its summer 2027 schedule, but the airline has said it plans to operate more than 2,500 routes to 230 destinations across its network. Apart from the additions already mentioned, several other routes are also being introduced, particularly in Morocco, where the Irish low-cost carrier continues to expand its presence.
For summer 2027, the Irish budget airline is adding four new routes to Morocco, three of which will serve Tangier. These will connect the northern Moroccan city to Alicante in Spain, Krakow in Poland and Turin in Italy. The fourth route will link Marrakech with Palermo in Sicily.
Elsewhere, Italy will continue to see further expansion. Ryanair is opening a new two-aircraft base at Rimini Federico Fellini International Airport (RMI), alongside five new routes from Dublin, Warsaw, Memmingen, Stockholm and Tirana.
