Selena Gomez Takes a Loss on $5.4 million Sale of L.A. Home

Selena Gomez has officially offloaded her Los Angeles home tucked away in the affluent Rancho Estates neighborhood of Encino.

First listed in May at $6.5 million, the contemporary spread has sold for $5.399 million. That is about $500,000 more than the nearly $4.9 million the singer, actor, and beauty entrepreneur paid in 2020, all but guaranteeing a net loss after luxury closing taxes. Branden Williams and Rayni Williams of The Beverly Hills Estates held the listing, with Aaron Kirman of Christie’s International Real Estate SoCal repping the buyer.

Custom-built in 1989 for the late rocker Tom Petty and his first wife, Jane Benyo, and renovated and expanded since, the sprawling, three-story residence sits securely beyond a cul-de-sac and a gated drive on almost an acre. Six bedrooms and 10 bathrooms are spread across roughly 11,400 square feet, highlighted by a skylight-topped living room anchored by a stone fireplace that soars to the slanted ceiling through a white-railed mezzanine.

Also standing out is a fireside family room, a formal dining room, and the wood-beamed kitchen where Gomez filmed her Selena + Chef cooking series. In addition to dual primary suites on the main and upstairs levels, a lower floor hosts plush perks ranging from a movie theater, gym, and wine cellar to a beauty salon and vocal booth.

The canyon-view grounds are centered on a cascading rock waterfall and a flowing stream spilling into a raised spa and freeform pool below. There’s also an alfresco dining area, a bar-equipped cabana, and a fire pit, plus a detached three-car garage and a carport with room for four more vehicles.

Gomez, who married music producer Benny Blanco last year, primarily resides in a 1920s Spanish-style estate in Beverly Hills the couple purchased in late 2024 for $35 million. The “Lose You to Love Me” singer continues to hang on to a $1.7 million home in L.A.’s Woodland Hills, which is currently occupied by her mother and stepfather. Blanco, who lost a beachfront home in Malibu during the Palisades Fire in early 2025, still owns a Hollywood Hills estate he bought in 2020 from Tinder cofounder Sean Rad for $9.9 million. He recently sold his longtime New York bachelor pad in Mahattan’s Chelsea neighborhood for $3.6 million.
