AI-powered service provides information on drone registration, insurance, and flight restrictions.
DroneClear Thailand has introduced a ChatGPT app designed to help recreational drone operators understand the country’s registration requirements and flight restrictions.
Users can enter their drone model, weight, camera equipment, intended flight location, and purpose. The app then provides information about applicable regulations, including registration, insurance, and operating restrictions.
Making Drone Regulations Easier to Understand
Thailand offers tremendous opportunities for stunning images. However, the country requires drone operators to comply with rules administered by two government agencies: the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) and the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC).

The requirements can be complex for visitors. Even lightweight camera drones may require registration with both agencies. Operators must also meet insurance requirements and follow restrictions on flight locations.
The DroneClear ChatGPT app provides answers in English and German, with references to relevant regulations. It also offers information about restricted areas and directs users to official sources for verification.
The app focuses on recreational flights. It does not issue flight approvals or complete registrations within ChatGPT.
DroneClear Thailand, a private registration assistance company, also offers paid registration and insurance assistance through its website.
AI as a Tool for Regulatory Guidance
The application illustrates how conversational AI could simplify access to complex drone regulations, particularly for international travelers. Operators can ask questions specific to their aircraft and planned flights rather than searching multiple government websites.
However, the service does not replace official regulatory guidance or authorization. Operators should verify current requirements with CAAT before flying.
